The Summit aims to bring together global leaders, policy makers, industry experts, and practitioners in the field of Sustainable Public Procurement (SPP) and Ecolabelling to share knowledge, discuss current trends, and identify priorities to address the triple planetary crisis and achieve the targets of the objective 12 of the Sustainable Development Goal on Responsible Consumption and Production. This summit will provide a platform for participants to engage in dialogue, collaborate on innovative solutions, and set an agenda for future actions to scale up sustainable consumption and production (SCP).
Expected Outcomes:
- Enhanced understanding of the role and potential of SPP and Ecolabelling in promoting SCP.
- Strengthened global networks and collaborations among stakeholders in the field of SCP.
- Identified opportunities and challenges for scaling up SPP and Ecolabelling.
- Actionable insights and strategies for policy making and implementation of SCP, SPP, and Ecolabelling.
This Summit is jointly organized by UNEP, GIZ, the One Planet Network, Öko-Institut with support from the International Climate Initiative (IKI) and the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV). Additional institutions such as FAO, WWF and the Global Ecolabelling Network are also actively contributing to the organization of the summit. It is part of the Eco-Advance project: Ecolabels and Sustainable Public Procurement.
