A plastic-free world? What would happen if the use of plastics in selected application fields was consistently reduced?

The donation-financed project analysed prevention strategies for the mass consumption of plastics in application areas that are particularly relevant for releases of microplastics. The project examined the consequences of avoiding the use of plastics in food packaging, synthetic textiles and vehicle tyres. Using a creative process involving researchers and experts from Öko-Institut, businesses, civil society organisations and academia, "Future stories of a life without plastics" were developed. These narratives outline promising solution strategies for avoiding plastics for consumers in their everyday lives. Recommendations for action were also drawn up for companies and politicians.
