A practical handbook to guide and support Member States implementation of the updated LULUCF Regulation EU 2023/839

The aim of this project is to assist Member States in preparing for the successful implementation of policies concerning land use, land-use change, and forestry (LULUCF). To achieve this objective, the project team is developing a handbook that provides Member States with guidance on the understanding of the updated LULUCF regulation, the Governance Regulation and the broader context of LULUCF reporting under the UNFCCC. A workshop with experts from Member States is conducted to disseminate the provided guidance, and facilitate its implementation in the first inventory cycle. After the 2024 GHG inventories have been submitted, the project team reaches out to Member States to collect feedback on the use of the handbook and incorporate this feedback in a revised edition of the handbook. Feedback from EEA and DG CLIMA is also included in the revised edition.
