Additional input to the Commission's impact assessment for a review of the scope of provisions of the RoHS 2 Directive pursuant Article 24(1)

This project reviewed the scope of the RoHS Directive. The exemption of electric bicycles was considered. An exemption, as well as the various amendments to Articles 2(2), 4(3) and 4(4), would have an impact on the scope of the rules applicable to newly included electrical and electronic equipment (EEE). Explanatory information on the different issues has been prepared. This information was submitted to a consultation of interested parties who were invited to comment. After the consultation, the stakeholder contributions were published on the CIRCA and RoHS evaluation websites. This was followed by an assessment of the relevant issues. At the end of these evaluations, a report was prepared. This report presented the available information, explained the rationale behind the evaluation of each problem area and recommended to EU-COM what action should be taken.
