Analysis and trend assessment of environmental and foods contamination with selected POPs, and enhancement of the Dioxin Database Federation/Länder with the aim of path-related investigation of causes

Applying a transversal approach, the project aimed at analysing the available knowledge on the issue of sources (new entries, remobilization), reducing the environmental and foods contamination with dioxins and PCBs, investigating the causes of contamination with a focus on the exposure pathways and deriving the resulting need for action. Furthermore, an assessment of the overall problems was to be carried out at the interface between environment and food industry in order to cover exposure pathways such as the feed chain in connection with certain categories of food. Moreover, sources of exposure from the sphere of technology were to be identified, and congener-specific patterns of different types of toxic substances were to be determined.
