Ariadne 2: Evidence-based assessment for the design of the German energy transition on the way to climate neutrality - Subproject: F0-2

In this funding phase, Ariadne continues to show ways through the complex detailed issues of the energy transition: Ariadne researches energy transition strategies and their systemic effects as well as sectoral interactions. Ariadne explores policy instruments to achieve climate goals in an efficient and socially balanced way. And Ariadne explores which governance and which institutions are needed to shape effective climate protection. The project specifically addresses decision-making problems of policy-makers, but also initiates debates with policy-makers, stakeholders and citizens with the aim of shaping a joint learning process.

Oeko-Institut is involved in WP 8 (heat transition and heat & housing panel). The main topics are the interaction of municipal heat planning/regional heat transition with overarching strategies as well as the interaction of regulatory requirements such as the 65 % RE rule with other instruments, including the associated social impact. Both topics are discussed with various stakeholders and citizens. In addition, Oeko-Institut works on IEA ES Task 43 (Standardised use of building mass as storage for renewables and grid flexibility). The task aims to answer the questions of how flexibility options can be characterised, which applications of the electricity system fit which options and how these can be concretely implemented.
