Assessment of the FFH and environmental impact in the approval process for decommissioning and dismantling of components of the nuclear power plant Lingen in accordance with Section 7(3) of the Atomic Law

Kernkraftwerk Lingen GmbH has applied for the dismantling of the Lingen nuclear power plant (KWL) in accordance with Section 7 (3) of the Atomic Energy Act (AtG). An environmental impact assessment must be carried out as part of the nuclear licensing procedure in accordance with Section 7 of the Atomic Energy Act.

According to the Nuclear Licensing Procedure Ordinance (AtVfV), the environmental impact assessment comprises the determination, description and evaluation of the significant effects of a project on humans, including human health, animals, plants and biodiversity, soil, water, air, climate and landscape, cultural assets and other material assets as well as the interactions between the protected assets.

The Öko-Institut was commissioned by TÜV NORD EnSys Hannover GmbH & Co. KG on 8 February 2010 to prepare an expert opinion on the environmental and flora-fauna-habitat compatibility. The assessment was carried out as part of the licensing procedure in accordance with Section 7 (3) of the Atomic Energy Act for the dismantling of the Lingen nuclear power plant, the first licensing step.
