Blue Angel for thermal insulation composite systems - Further development of the ecological criteria for the promotion of increased use of biocide-free plasters and coatings

The project aimed at further developing the sustainability criteria for external thermal insulation composite systems (ETICS) with a view to the award of the Blue Angel in order to adequately reflect the great significance of EIFS as an instrument of climate protection, to further increase the efficiency of the systems, and to tackle vulnerabilities such as flammability, recyclability and mould formation. The proposal foresaw to complement the existing award criteria for stone wool and plasters, and to critically examine the possibilities for the inclusion of additional materials and coatings in order to avoid, for example, unnecessary use of biocides, and to be able to award other insulating materials.
