Carbon Credit Quality Initiative (CCQI) – Phase III

Founded by Environmental Defense Fund, Oeko-Institut and World Wildlife Fund (WWF-US), the Carbon Credit Quality Initiative (CCQI) provides transparent information on the quality of carbon credits. In this phase of the project, the CCQI assessments were amended by applying the methodology to six more project types (household biodigesters, industrial biodigesters fed with livestock manure, leak repair in natural gas transmission and distribution networks, recovery of associated gas from oil fields, solar photovoltaic power, wind power onshore), to one more carbon crediting programme (American Carbon Registry), and two complementary standards to assess sustainable development impacts (Verra’s Climate Community & Biodiversity Standards and Verra’s Sustainable Development Verified Impact Standard).
