Climate-friendly waste and recycling management Russia

The project "Climate-friendly waste management in Russia"  is funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI). The aim of the sub-project named here is to provide decision-makers at all levels in Russia with adapted concepts for climate-friendly waste management oriented towards circular economy. Consultancy, exchange of experience, training, support of demonstration projects and dissemination of information contribute to the development of the new regulations. The role of the waste sector and its greenhouse gas mitigation potential will be given greater consideration in the development of Russian mitigation strategies, and waste management and climate policy processes and documents will be better linked. The strengthening of the waste sector in the climate policy discussion should lead to a concretization of the greenhouse gas reduction targets of the waste sector and to their inclusion in the climate policy strategies and commitments, which in turn requires the nationwide introduction of climate-friendly waste management strategies and technologies in the medium and long term.
