Climate protection in air and maritime transport: Options for meeting emission targets

Decarbonisation of aviation and maritime shipping requires the sectors to use GHG-neutral fuel options. However, these options are only available on a very small scale. The report provides roadmaps with concrete steps that will enable sufficient supply and uptake of the most promising GHG-neutral fuel options for the sectors to decarbonise. It provides an overview of energy demand projections for the two sectors, an estimate of the share of that demand that would need to be met by GHG-neutral energy options if the sectors were to decarbonise, and an overview and assessment of GHG-neutral energy options relevant to the two sectors.
