Comparative study on the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of Rügenwalder Mühle products

In the course of an initial screening, Oeko-Institut evaluated existing studies on the environmental assessment of meat products and vegetarian meat alternatives on behalf of Rügenwalder Mühle. Although the result clearly shows an environmental advantage for vegetarian / vegan meat alternatives, Rügenwalder Mühle still lacks concrete data and facts relating to their products and production processes. Rügenwalder Mühle has therefore commissioned Oeko-Institut to carry out a comparative study on the environmental assessment for some of their products. As part of the project, Oeko-Insitut provides consultancy services on the following two topics: The project involves the preparation of a comparative Life Cycle Assessment for a Rügenwalder Mühle product in two variants, using the example of the „vegetarian and meat-based mill meatball”. Preparation of a comparative Life Cycle Assessment for a Rügenwalder Mühle product in three variants using the example of the "ham picker". The results are documented in the form of a detailed study report which meets the requirements of ISO 14040/44. In addition, the results are presented and discussed on site with at least one person from the balancing team.
