Consumer benefits of standardisation

The study aims at examining, by means of examples, the usefulness of standardization for consumers, making information about its benefits available in an easily accessible manner, both to the general public as well as to national and European policy makers. In this respect, at least the following consumer-related aspects have to be taken into account: security, durability, performance, compatibility, accessibility, conservation of resources, product information, data protection. Wherever possible, the benefit should be quantified or monetized. Where sufficient data are not available, the benefits will be described in qualitative terms.
