Contribution of Renewable Cooling to the Renewable Energy Target of the EU (update)

The project aims at providing an overview of renewable cooling technologies and the contribution of cooling to the renewable energy target of the EU. Specfic objectives include: * providing an updated overview of the technologies and potential for cooling from renewable energy sources; * providing an overview on today’s cooling demand as well as today’s contribution of renewable cooling; * providing an overview of recent scenarios about the expected development of the European cooling demand; * providing an overview of definitions for renewable cooling as well as developing a proposal how renewable cooling could properly be defined; * developing a·proposal for a methodology that would allow for monitoring the development of renewable cooling and its contribution to the RES targets laid down in the RES Directive. * estimating the potential maximum impacts of including cooling in the RES-Directive.
