Data acquisition in the supply chain of products in the field of information and communication technology (ICT)

The aim of this project was to verify the quality of the data collected in the framework of the sub-project C "Establishing a data base for the evaluation of ecological effects of ICT products " as part of the research and development project "Conservation of resources in the field of communication and information tech-nology" (UFOPLAN 2009 FZK 370995 308). The panel of experts' task has been to contribute to the knowledge about material and energy flows and their environmental impacts along the value chain of selected ICT products, and to verify the truth of the existing information. This evaluation is also meant to provide useful input on the supply chain of the selected products and sound knowledge on the actors involved. The roundtable convened should help to find the most suitable data sources, to select the products and components to be investigated on the basis of their relevance, and to verify the quality of the data gathered as part of this study. The project was divided into five working packages:

AP 1: Project organization and management; WP 2: Organization of a roundtable comprising experts from industry and scientists; WP 3: Organization and holding of roundtable meetings; AP 4: Selection of the ICT products and components to be investigated; AP 5: Documentation of results.
