Description and evaluation of existing and planned emission sources in the surroundings of the Ostfeld/Kalkofen development area

In Wiesbaden, the foundations are being laid for the construction of a new district between Biebrich, Erbenheim and Mainz-Kastel. A comprehensive public participation process is underway in which various plans are being discussed. Parallel to this, various preparatory studies are currently being prepared. The results of the preparatory studies and the structure plan for the Kalkofen/Ostfeld development area should be available towards the end of 2018. The area is surrounded by numerous emitters, through traffic on the A 66 and A 671 highways, but also from numerous industrial areas in the near and wider surroundings. Particularly due to the plans for a new waste incineration plant of the company Knettenbrech + Gurdulic (K+C) in the industrial area at Dyckerhoffbruch, which has meanwhile also been intensely- sive discussion, the question was raised as to what influence this plant and the entire industrial area would have on the planned development area Ostfeld/Kalkofen. The aim of the report is to research the facts of the various emitters and to present them clearly. For this purpose, the emission situation is described for the individual sources, insofar as they can have an influence on the area. That is, for relevant emitters in the immediate vicinity of the development area, especially in the industrial area at Dyckerhoffbruch, all possible emission sources are taken into account. For more distant emitters, only those sources that can have an influence on the area in terms of emission level and intensity are taken into account. For this purpose, existing findings from ongoing emission controls and available immission forecasts are to be used.
