Determination of basics and evaluation methods of a life cycle assessment of the winter road maintenance service

As part of the project, a simple method for the life cycle assessment of winter road services was developed and made available to interested parties in the form of an intuitive Excel tool. The winter road services considered in the project include winter road services on motorways and federal trunk roads. The method developed is based on the international standards for life cycle assessments. In addition, current literature on the ecotoxic effects of gritting was analysed. The extent to which the effects of gritting on structures and vehicles and the environmental impacts in the context of the effects of winter road maintenance on traffic flow can be modelled using the life cycle assessment method was also examined. The corresponding analyses are documented in the final report. The products presented were an Excel tool, a final report and a short report (German and English).
