Development of sustainability criteria for hydrogen and its derivatives at global level: Support the European Commission in international dialogues

The project supports the European Commission in international discussions with partner countries on hydrogen and its downstream products. For this purpose, country profiles are prepared in which the hydrogen economy, political instruments, potentials and projects are highlighted. A special focus is placed on the strengths and weaknesses of the partner countries in relation to the European hydrogen strategy. Furthermore, the project analyzes and evaluates methodologies to assess the greenhouse gas emissions of hydrogen production. The project also analyzes the relevant sustainability dimensions in the production of renewable and fossil gas-based hydrogen and compares the existing regulations and certification approaches in this regard.
