Dismantling of the active storage facility for solid and liquid residues (ALfR) of the Rheinsberg NPP operating unit - Soil and groundwater protection

The Active Storage Facility for Solid and Liquid Residues (ALfR) is a facility on the site of the decommissioned Rheinsberg nuclear power plant, which is currently being dismantled, where radioactive solid and liquid waste was stored when the power plant was in operation. The ALfR was originally intended for the final disposal of the waste produced at the Rheinsberg NPP. Today, the entire ALfR is being dismantled. In the process, radioactive contaminants present in the soil are removed. Öko-Institut is responsible for the aspects of soil protection and groundwater protection on behalf of AFRY (formerly: Pöyry Deutschland GmbH). The main client is the Ministry for Social Affairs, Health, Integration and Consumer Protection of the State of Brandenburg.
