Evaluation of the Energy Labelling Directive and specific aspects of the Ecodesign Directive

The study aimed at a) evaluating the effectiveness of the Directive 2010/30/EU on energy labelling and the related implementing measures, and b) evaluating specific aspects of the Ecodesign Directive 2009/125/EC. It compiled, assessed and presented information in order to provide stakeholders and the Commission with supporting information for the possible review and revision of the Directives in 2014. In particular, it provided concrete options for the future layout of the label. Stakeholder participation was an essential part of the study. Task 1 defines the background, context and methodological approach. Task 2 is the evaluation of the energy labelling directive. Task 3 examines possibilities to extend the scope of the Ecodesign and Energy Labelling directives to non-energy-related products and other environmental aspects. Task 4 is the evaluation of the Ecodesign Directive. Oeko-Institut provided technical input to Task 3 as well as input to Tasks 2 and 4 regarding the relationship of Ecodesign and Labelling to other EU policies.
