Expert support for the preparation of the German government’s Climate Action Plan 2050

In this project, the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Construction and Nuclear Safety was supported in the process of developing the Climate Action Plan 2050. Basic scientific information was processed and ad-hoc analyses carried out.

Initially, the participation process was accompanied scientifically. For the successful design and subsequent implementation of the Climate Action Plan, it is of great importance to involve all relevant actors in the design process at an early stage and also to offer citizens real opportunities for participation. Here, the complex interrelationships of effects and scientific backgrounds were prepared and fed into the discussion process in such a way that a constructive weighing of all interests and options for action was guaranteed. Furthermore, it was ensured that the results of the participation process were adequately taken into account when drawing up the Climate Action Plan. Furthermore, the content of the Climate Action Plan 2050 was scientifically accompanied and evaluated both technically and quantitatively. The implementation and updating of the Climate Action Plan received scientific support at the end of 2016/beginning of 2017.
