Further development of the state of the art in science and technology in the safety of the treatment of irradiated fuel elements, heat-generating radioactive waste and radioactive waste with negligible heat generation Development of a methodological assessment approach to analyze the influencing factors and the significance of an interim storage facility for spent fuel elements for a region (short title: Interim Storage Facility and Region)

Previous projects have shown that an extension of interim storage beyond the licensed 40 years has on the one hand effects on the operation of a storage facility, both in technical and in organisational terms, and on the other hand also impacts on the social level, particularly in the siting region. The effects on the siting region were further analysed in the Storage Facility and Region research project. An initial methodological approach was developed to identify the relevant issues for a siting region and concretise the influencing factors.
