GHG projections: "Policy scenarios for climate protection X"

Within the framework of the international and European climate protection regime, the participating countries and member states are required to submit projections for greenhouse gas emissions every two years, which correspond to a specified reporting format. Central to this project are the so-called "With-measures scenario" (MMS) and the "With additional measures scenario" (MWMS). For both scenarios, greenhouse gas projections are calculated until the year 2040. The results of the MMS, which takes into account measures already taken which and corresponds to a business-as-usual scenario, and those of the MWMS, which includes further possible measures not yet adopted, are included in the 2021 projection report. The modelling of the two scenarios also includes an assessment of the instruments and measures considered in terms of their emission reduction contribution. Moreover, a climate action instruments scenario 2030 (KIS-2030) was calculated in which the targets of the Federal Climate Change Act are achieved in 2030 through specifically designed political climate action instruments.
