Heat transition: The Energiewende in the heating sector ̶ Targets and policy instruments for the decarbonization of the heating supply

The aim of the project is to develop a specific vision for the heating sector that implements and, if necessary, substantiates the energy and climate targets of the German government in the area of heating supply. The year 2030 and an outlook to the year 2050 are the focus of the study. Based on this, in a second step, possible new instruments for achieving this target picture are developed. Key measures include strategic municipal heat planning, instruments for the extension and decarbonisation of district heating and other budget-independent instrument approaches such as minimum efficiency standards.
