Legal feasibility study on the legal implementation possibilities for a nano-plants and installation register

The feasibility study investigated on what legal basis a register can be introduced for plants where nanomaterials are manufactured, processed, and stored. In this context, subject to review was the existing environmental legislation of the Federal Republic of Germany and the German State of North Rhine-Westphalia, as well as the establishment of new legal bases. In addition, the design of essential regulation elements of such a register was to be examined, as well as the objective and the scope of the register, the definition of the nanomaterials to be registered, or the scope of data collection. The investigation resulted in the review and evaluation of different implementation options and the formulation of concrete regulatory contents.
