Paris Convention: developing measures and activities for climate-friendly aviation and maritime transport

In view of the global reduction needs, international air and sea transport must also follow development paths that ensure an adequate contribution of both sectors to the achievement of the temperature targets of the Paris Agreement. To this end, further policies and instruments must be developed and implemented. The project supports the German Ministry for the Environment (BMU) and the German Environment Agency (UBA)in the development of proposals for these policies and instruments, quantify their impacts and - based on this work - support BMU and UBA in advancing the discussion process on greenhouse gas reduction in UNFCCC, ICAO, IMO, EU/Eurocontrol in this direction. In addition, the research results are presented to a broader public at the UBA Future Air Transport Forum, which is prepared as a part of this project.
