Provision of assessment services within the scope of the environmental impact assessment in the approval according to § 6 AtG for ESTRAL

Within the framework of the nuclear licensing procedure for the construction of the interim storage facility (ESTRAL) in Lubmin, an examination of environmental and FFH compatibility is to be carried out. Öko-Institut has been commissioned by the Federal Office for the Safety of Nuclear Waste Disposal (BASE) - the authority responsible for the licensing procedure - to assess the environmental, flora, fauna and habi-tat compatibility of the project. The assessment covers the construction and operation of the interim storage facility, taking into account the radiological and non-radiological impacts emanating from the repository.
