Research on resource efficiency in the ICT sector

Greenpeace assigned Oeko-Institut to give an overview of all the resource relevant processes within the life-cycle of smartphones and tablets. Thus, the study’s aim was to present a comprehensive analysis of the resource related issues of smartphones and tablets, with relevance for the environment and human rights. In addition, the study aimed to present existing approaches for mitigating the identified negative impacts. These approaches were described in the context of the ongoing scientific and policy debate and were meant to support further discussion and processes to find solutions.
