Scientific Support to Ecolabel - Research into circular economy perspectives in the management of textile products and textile waste in the European Union

The project provides a detailed picture of the material flows in the EU textile industry and post-consumer textile collection and recycling sector. Insights in the status-quo of textile product value chains are elaborated by means of interaction with stakeholders. Moreover, knowledge on the state of the art and best practices of existing and emerging textile product repair, reuse and recycling practices will be compiled. The analysis of the potential benefits of increasing circularity in the EU textile and clothing market, provides the basis for identifying options for policy interventions the bear the greatest potential to help shifting the textile sector towards increased circularity.
