Screening of existing studies on the topic of PCF/PEF meat or meat substitute products

Rügenwalder Mühle Carl Müller GmbH & Co. KG (hereinafter: "Rügenwalder Mühle") is an established manufacturer of ham and sausages. The company is one of the best-known food manufacturers in Germany and was the first pure meat producer to develop and launch vegetarian and vegan products on the market at the end of 2014.

In view of current corporate strategy decision-making processes, Rügenwalder Mühle has identified the need for company-related recording of its greenhouse gas emissions. Rügenwalder Mühle is considering establishing its own climate neutrality as a possible overarching goal of its corporate strategy. In this context, the preparation of a corporate carbon footprint (CCF) is intended to serve as the basis for developing a roadmap for reducing Rügenwalder Mühle's climate-relevant emissions as far as possible. Accordingly, Rügenwalder Mühle intends to record the status quo of company-related greenhouse gas emissions and at the same time identify opportunities to reduce these emissions in the future. In addition, a regular update of the corporate balance sheet is planned for subsequent years.

In connection with the planned preparation of a CCF, Rügenwalder Mühle asked Oeko-Institut to elaborate a bid for consulting services in the context of defining the target and scope of the analysis and to check the calculation.

Oeko-Institut's consultancy services comprise the work packages outlined below:

  • Work package 1: Support in defining the target and scope of the study
  • Work package 2: Review of the carbon footprint and comments on the assessment report

Work package 3: Participation in a final workshop to discuss the corporate carbon footprint
