Standardization of nuclear technology - systematic analysis to determine the participation of national experts from authorities, industry and research institutions in national and international standardization and expert committees with reference to nuclear technology

In 2022, the last nuclear power plants in Germany will cease commercial operation. But even beyond this date, the German government will have to continue to position itself competently on a wide range of nuclear safety issues. In addition to safety issues relating to foreign nuclear power plants - for example in bilateral commissions - this relates in particular to the further development of international regulations at the level of the IAEA, ENSREG/WENRA, but also in international standardization bodies such as ISO and CEN. In this project, a systematic inventory is made of national experts from federal and state authorities, expert organizations, research institutions and operators, manufacturers and suppliers of nuclear facilities who are involved in national and international standardization and expert committees related to nuclear technology. Furthermore, the nature and extent of the collaboration of the individual experts (in terms of thematic allocation or the time and budget required) is summarized in order to derive conclusions for targeted measures for further participation in regulatory and standardization work in the sense of strategy development and thus to ensure German participation in nuclear technology bodies.
