Study of critical substances in hand dishwashing and machine dishwasher detergents, identification of substitution options, and assessment of the environmental risk posed by dishwasher detergents

The project aims at investigating the various dishwashing detergents used in the household sector, as regards their composition and their environmental effects. Intended results are as follows: - A comparison between the amount of chemicals used in hand dishwashing and the volume used in machine dish-washing - A statement regarding the damage to the environment caused by cleaning chemicals, comparing the various product groups used in dishwashers - Identification of substitution options of poorly degradable substances which are used in dishwasher detergents - Guidance on the sustainable use of chemicals for various dishwashing procedures.
