Study to identify and assess the feasibility of measures to enhance the impact of Directive 2006/66/EG on the protection of the environment, on the promotion of circular economy and on the smooth functionning of the internal market

The general aim of this is to assist the European Commission in the process of the review of the Batteries Directive. The study shall provide the European Commission with the information necessary to assess the feasibility and the likely impact of measures intended to address the shortcomings identified in the Batteries Directive. The study shall consider three different types of provisions for the development and assessment of measures and thereby defines the scope of the study: end-of-life aspects, batteries and waste batteries considered as products or commodities, the main types of operators and stakeholders mentioned by the Directive. The results of this assessment study will be useful to improve the Directive and its implementation on the ground. The assessment study shall pave the way to enable timely preparation of proposals of the Commission for improvements of the Batteries Directive.
