Support of BASE in the process analysis of the site selection procedure (PaSta)

The repository search procedure is not only unique for Germany. Also on the international level, no comparable procedure in this form is known so far. Accordingly, there are no empirical values available so far, neither for the concrete implementation nor for the duration of the necessary tasks. The site selection procedure consists of various prescribed procedural steps, which are implemented by different actors and partly interact with each other. In order to implement the search for a repository in accordance with the requirements and as time-efficiently as possible, it is crucial to highlight these correlations and to identify process and schedule risks. In this project, the framework conditions of the site selection procedure are first comprehensively surveyed and presented. Subsequently, the procedure is analyzed under consideration of a multitude of aspects and its temporal course as well as the interactions of the parties involved are presented. Finally, process and schedule risks in the site selection procedure are identified and measures to avoid or mitigate them are presented.
