Support the public consultation for the preparation of the Strategy for Long Term EU Greenhouse gas emissions reduction

The project involved the analysis of various stakeholder position papers and roadmaps for potential long-term Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission reduction strategies, the summary of the three public meetings, and the synthesis of all these reports into a final report. A list of key stakeholder types was established and then of individual stakeholders from whom position papers were expected. The position papers came from two main sources, those already published directly by stakeholders, or new papers included as attachments to the open public consultation.

An analytical framework (Excel matrix) was developed with the extracted information presented in columns under pre-defined themes. The project team provided a summary analysis of about 40 papers from various stakeholders, 10 of which were published by Member States. The majority of papers contained targets for 2050 that mirrored the long-term goal of the EU at that time, which was an 80% reduction of emissions by 2050.
