Sustainable Chemistry as part of the International Chemicals Management - Analysis and concept development for initiatives, instruments, financing and networking

The aim of the research project was to link sustainable chemistry with a "sound management of chemicals". This was done on the basis of an inventory and evaluation of existing elements (initiatives, instruments, and financing mechanisms) relevant to sustainable chemistry in international chemicals management, formulation of concrete policy recommendations for national and international stakeholders, and strategically oriented public relations work. The research project made a significant contribution to formulating the thematic priorities of the International Sustainable Chemistry Collaborative Centre (ISC3) and the strategic approach to be followed beyond the end of its mandate in 2020. With this research project, BMUB and UBA should be put in a position to actively contribute to the discussions on linking sustainable chemistry with the sound management of chemicals at national and international level, thereby playing a key role in this process.
