Sustainable Management in Extractive Industrie (SUMEX)

SUMEX (Sustainable Management in Extractive Industries) addresses the definition of sustainability in connection with EU extractive industry from exploration to closure/post-closure of exploration sites. In peer-learning workshops the five focus areas

- land use planning,

- socio-economic and environmental impact assessments,

- health and safety,

- reporting, and

- permitting

are discussed with all stakeholder groups including CSO, industry, policy, permitting authorities.

The digital SUMEX toolkit provides relevant information and good practice cases. In addition knowledge and practice examples are shared in MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses).
