Sustainable use of renewable energies for the provision of electricity, heat and cooling in energy concepts for buildings and neighbourhoods, taking account of building energy efficiency – Preliminary research

The project aims to show the way to a climate-neutral building stock that is designed sustainably in the sense of the research framework by means of planning, building and operating as well as neighbourhood development.

Definitions of climate-neutral and sustainable buildings and neighbourhoods are developed. Conflicts between environmental objectives are identified and solutions are presented. In addition, the project enables to weigh up renovation and the use of renewable energies from the point of view of the life cycle of the relevant technologies. The possible benefits of energy management systems in buildings and neighbourhoods as well as their requirements are presented.
