Technical support to implement the new Batteries Regulation between 2023 and 2025

Under the first task, the consortium shall research and write a report which assesses “common chargers” for rechargeable batteries. The study report of Task 1 shall support the Commission to submit a review report to the European Parliament and the Council by 1 January 2025. The broad objective of the second task is to support the EC in developing an implementing act, which must be completed in time for adoption by 1 July 2025, to establish harmonised technical specifications for battery labels. The overall layout and general content for the labels shall be determined as part of the recommendations for the implementing act. Lastly, under Task 3 the consortium proposes supporting the EC to develop formats for reporting data on batteries for e.g. collection and recycling. As part of this, methods for assessing the data and the operational conditions shall be investigated. The findings regarding the reporting formats shall be drafted into recommendations to support an implementing act, which is to be adopted by 1 July 2025.
