The Global Stocktake under the Paris Agreement: Design, methodology and process (including methodology test for selected states)

This project seeks to develop the central elements and characteristics of an effective global stocktake mechanism. It presents a weak, medium and ideal design of the global stocktake which indicates the minimum information necessary for this process. Furthermore, existing information sources and methodological approaches for the aggregation of national data is collected and sorted with regard to their potential contribution for the global stocktake process. On the basis of existing data sources, proposals will be developed for a methodological tool that aggregates national data in order to measure global progress in implementing the Paris Agreement. This tool is then tested for a representative selection of states to evaluate their utility.
