Transition to a Green Economy: Necessary structural changes for and enablers of a viable implementation in Germany

The project analyses the necessary structural changes for and the enablers of a viable transition towards a Green Economy in Germany. Firstly, a review is conducted on national and international Green Economy strategies and measures, taking into account the maturity of their implementation. Promising approaches are explored with regard to their transfe r rability to Germany.

In a second step, systemic barriers of a transition towards a Green Economy are identified and analysed. Building on this, institutional approaches and instruments are screened and developed for accelerating the implementation of a Green Economy within Germany.

The project teams also develops a strategy paper on options for action for the administration and launches an expert discussion with financial market actors on how the financial sector conrtibutes to a Green Economy. Finally, an assessment is carried out of market potentials as well as environmental relief potentials and employment effects of green services.
