Using emerging data streams for monitoring the uptake of Circular Economy in Europe

Measuring and monitoring the achievement of Circular Economy goals requires a continuous and systematic collection of data on how far a state, a region, a municipality, an economic sector, specific companies or organisations are on the transformation path towards a Circular Economy. The aim of the specific study within a Framework Contract to support to the European Environment Agency’s activities on circular economy and industrial transformation for emerging waste streams is to identify alternative digital data streams (not yet used for these purposes) beyond existing statistical data and to test their use as a basis for new indicators of the Circular Economy at European level. The focus is primarily on the first stages of the waste hierarchy (refuse, rethink, reduce, reuse, repair, refurbish, remanufacture).
