Utopia Produkt 2012. Developing criteria and providing product ranking lists on the basis of EcoTopTen and Top100

In order to help consumers which are looking for good products and to support them on the road towards more sustainability, the Oeko-Institut entered into a cooperation with the electronics retailers Saturn and Utopia, leading to clear, reliable product recommendations for electrical appliances on the basis of the existing consumer information platform EcoTopTen. The project aims at increasing energy savings as a result of supply and demand for highly energy-efficient products. Within the framework of the first work package, the Oeko-Institut provides Saturn with the current market overviews of six product groups from EcoTopTen. In an attempt to broaden the range of product groups in addition to those which are already available at EcoTopTen, EcoTopTen minimum criteria will be developed for another six product groups in the second work package. Furthermore, a query file (in Excel) as well as a manufacturer questionnaire will be developed. On the basis of these tools, a market overview of the best products will be elaborated and shall be made available to Saturn. At the same time, the market overview will be published at www.ecotopten.de, thus allowing a common reference to EcoTop Ten in the scope of the project carried out together with Saturn and Utopia.
