"WohnMobil": Analysis, systematization and creation of knowledge transfer in the design of innovative residential and mobility services

The aim of the project is to develop and test viable business and implementation models for innovative mobility and housing-related services oriented toward shared forms of use. Within the framework of the "WohnMobil" research project, the Öko-Institut is supporting residential initiatives in establishing neighborhood-based carsharing and bikesharing services over a period of three years. In addition to assessing the sustainable effects on ecological, social and economic effects of collaborative mobility services on housing initiatives, the project team is developing fact sheets to provide more practical information on the topic to interested housing initiatives or (housing) associations. The prepared fact sheet deals with different collaborative mobility services and their implementation. The focus is on car sharing offers that can be used by or by housing initiatives. A distinction is therefore made between station-based, one-way, peer-to-peer, and neighborhood-based carsharing, as well as carsharing offered by a non-profit organization. Furthermore, based on the empirical results of qualitative interviews, possibilities for housing initiatives to implement a car sharing system are identified.
