ETC CM report 2023/07: Trends and projections in the EU ETS in 2023. The EU Emissions Trading System in numbers

This report analyses historical, current and future emissions trends under the European Union (EU) Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS). It also analyses the balance between supply and demand of allowances on the market. This report is based on data and information provided by the European Commission and Member States. The data on verified emissions and compliance of operators under the EU ETS for the years up to 2022 are based on an extract from the EU Transaction Log on 1 July 2023.

This report is divided into three parts: Historical and recent trends, projected emission trends to 2030 and 2050, as well as one section offering a review of the upcoming Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism.
