Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is becoming increasingly important in the quest to reach net zero by 2050, driving investment in its commercial deployment. In order for the industry to succeed in the long-term, regulatory frameworks for storage of CO2 are essential and must consider potential technological and environmental risks. This leadership roundtable will discuss the current status of CO2 storage regulations and provide recommendations to policy makers on where existing legislation needs to be strengthened or updated and where additional legislation is needed to ensure the sustainability and permanence of CO2 storage. Senior Researcher Martin Cames (Öko-Institut) will be one of the panelists.

About the Expo:

The concept of carbon capture is nothing new. However, a number of technical and economic challenges need to be overcome before carbon capture can be fully realized as a major contributor to reducing global carbon emissions. Carbon Capture Technology Expo Europe is a solutions-driven forum that will discuss the development of new technologies to overcome these technical challenges and propel carbon capture into the mainstream for stationary and mobile applications.
